Publisher's Game Description: Each year, the people of France celebrate a national holiday on July 14th. In Carcassonne, the people mark the day by releasing the sheep, chickens and cows from their pens. All day, the children of Carcassonne make great fun by trying to catch the animals and return them to their pens by dusk.
This highly simplified version of the best-selling Carcassonne gives small children the chance to enjoy this great game, even with their families. Here, no points are counted. Instead, the first player to use all his figures is the winner.
Reviews & Comments:
BGG Sandie Fletcher - Playing with a 5 yr old & nearly 7 yr old
BGG Peter Hein - The perfect "gateway game" for geek parents
BGG Michael Grumsch:"If I had to pick my all time favorite young childrens game, this would be it. High quality components mixed with a simple yet fairly strategic game, equals a game I would gladly play with my son anytime he asked. "
How To Play:
The players in turn draw a landscape tile and place it; unlike in normal Carcassonne, they always match. Amongst other features, the tiles show children in the player colors on the roads. Whenever a road is finished, every player places one of his meeples on each appropriate picture. The first player who manages to place all of his meeples wins the game.
BGG Shawn M.:"This game is hit with our 5 and 3 and a half year old girls. Actually, our whole family has fun playing this together. It is a good game to introduce children to game tactics which they seem to pick up right away once they see them in action. Also, the game pieces are attractive and of good quality.
I recommend Kids of Carcassonne as a great game to introduce children to board games since it engages them as some thought is required to play."
BGG James Cheevers:"Enjoyable junior version of the proper game. It encourages tactical thinking and can be played either friendly or competitively. It's also played to completion in 15 minutes which makes it suitable for younger children with shorter attention spans. All the children from non-gaming families that have played it with us have really enjoyed it."
BGG Matdav:"Another great kids game. 5 year old got it right away and can compete due to the randomness of the tiles. My 3 year old finally understands the concept of opening and closing a road. Both can play and have a reasonable chance of winning even when I am playing to win."
BGG Mikko Saari:"Excellent game! Simple enough that a three-year old can grasp the idea (if not the strategy), yet fun enough for adults. Well, not adults alone, in most cases, but still. Fun, and a cute as a button."
